59m
“Family businesses must focus on long-term resilience, preparing the next generation. That’s a different time horizon than quarterly earnings.” Matt Allen
The amount of information available to business families on governance continues to grow. Despite increased information, families struggle to understand what they need, when they need it; and how to create effective governance.
The session will open with a presentation by Professor Matt Allen, on foundations of governance supported by cutting-edge research based on the Ward Center’s successful executive family business program.
The session will also make time for a practical discussion led by event champion Christian Baatz, 4th generation of a 116-year business. Christian‘s family has developed governance system (benefiting and encompassing business and family) which successfully equipped them to maneuver challenging situations, making them resilient and effective in their decision-making.
Key Topics covered in the session:
Introducing the family system theory is key to understanding the need for family business governance.
Provide examples of governance structures for different family business stages.
Present business case studies to demonstrate the concepts and showcase the individuality of the governance approach.
