1h 1m
Are you raising an emotionally strong child? Resilience is a crucial skill we need to thrive in uncertain, difficult times and interact with difficult people. This year has only reinforced how important it is for children and adults alike to learn how to bounce back from stressful situations.
Brooks Gibbs, Ph.D., a social psychologist leading the online parent community, #raisethemstrong, first gave parents the tools they needed to raise resilient kids. Now, he's back to work directly with children (ages 10 and up) on developing their own resilience. Students can easily learn the ABCs of cognitive behavior therapy from a customized, presentation that includes a role play game with two volunteer youth. Shift negative thinking, avoid catastrophizing unwanted events, keep a long-term perspective of temporary problems and turn adversity into growth opportunities.
