Dr. Anjhula Mya Singh Bais and Dr. Kip Thompson (Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Professor in Counseling Psychology at Fordham University Lincoln Centre, NYC) explore the stress points and impact on mental health of systemic racism and societies that do not allow all its members to fully belong. Together they discuss how families can confidently approach discussions of discriminatory behavior, take steps to consider their path to anti-racism and support each other while doing so.
Kip Thompson PhD is currently the Clinical Coordinator/Assistant Professor in Counseling Psychology at Fordham University at Lincoln Center. He serves as the Vice President of Public Interest and Diversity for the APA Division 43: Society for Couples and Family Psychology, where he also serves as the Division liaison to the APA Division of Social Justice. He is licensed to practice psychology in Virginia, North Carolina, New York, and the District of Columbia.
His research interests include socio-cultural differences in coping from traumatic stress from Hurricane Katrina, program evaluations for school-based interventions, and community risk assessments for sexually violent predators.
