This was the question faced by Bassel Hamwi (YPO Metro Gold New York) when in 2012, he was staring down the barrel of running a bank amidst a civil war and economic sanctions.
To survive, he had to act quickly and decisively. He employed strategies to calm depositors, protect liquidity, and communicate effectively with the media and regulators.
By projecting confidence, maximizing liquidity, and prioritizing depositors’ needs, Bassel and his bank managed to weather the storm, and come out a success. Bassel proved his mettle to his stakeholders, and himself.
Through this experience, Bassel learned the importance of being prepared for any crisis, and always putting the needs of customers first.
